About Me
Matthew Cooley

I gained my interest in the landscape field when I was selling pest control door to door. I discovered that I would much rather help a homeowner come up with a yard they can enjoy than bug them on their door step.
I receive my Bachelor of Science degree in Residential Landscape Design and Construction in December 2018. I will graduate from Utah State University in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.
I currently work as a landscape construction foreman, but would ultimately like to be able to design landscapes. I really love every aspect of the green industry and would like to try my hands at many things. I love creating and I love what is already there. Let me combine the two!
Design
Personal Designs
My designs come from a variety of backgrounds. In the classroom I have been given scenarios where a "client" has needs and a vision of what they want their yard to look like. My job was to create a design that fit this "clients" needs.
I have also included a design that I did outside of the classroom. A real person with a real home that needed real attention. This was my first design job outside of the classroom.

Salisbury Residence
Low Water Design
This design started in my Low Water Plant class. I was assigned to come up with a functional design that was to cut the water use in half compared to an all turf landscape. I was successful. See low water project for more details on final outcome of this project.
Hand Drawn
Black and White
This project was for me to utilize my plant knowledge and to come up with a design that used one type of form composition. This also included a planting plan.

Traffic Circle
Low Water Design
A traffic circle that previously was only rocks. The main goal of the project was to create an aesthetic design that would not block the view of traffic, not use very much water, and would be a good place to pile snow in the winter.
